ALARM TECHNICIAN (2233)

CLASS PURPOSE

   Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty, utilizing basic camera and resourceful people skills. Serves as a liaison between business and the Police Department Robbery Investigation Unit. Performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

   This is a single civilian position class in the Robbery Investigation Unit of the Police Department. Incumbent works closely with robbery staff, crime victims, business owners, and vendors to eliminate suspect activity and create a positive liaison with the business community. The position requires a self-starter willing to work in a cooperative and supportive effort with sworn team members and to assume total responsibility in several critical areas. Incumbent is expected to work independently or as a team member depending on the requirements of the situation.

QUALIFICATIONS

   Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Competent Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

   Ability to follow Police Department policies and procedures accurately, and apply procedures to the solution of problem situations.

Education

   Successful completion of high school, General Education Developmental (G.E.D.) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.

Experience

   At least two (2) years of experience working with cameras and alarm systems

Licenses/Certificates

   A valid California driver’s license is required.
